Mr. Hudson has more than 30 years of oil and gas asset management and financial transaction experience. He advises both public and privately held companies across a wide range of constituents, including management teams, boards of directors, equity investors, and private business owners. Mr. Hudson specializes in structuring and leading complex and innovative acquisitions, divestitures and financial transactions and capital raising in the oil & gas sector.
Mr. Hudson’s background is in asset management, including 8 years with Torch Energy and 10 years as a principal/founder of several private equity backed entities. He brings a unique perspective and subject matter expertise with his deeply rooted oil and gas knowledge, including 17 years in oil and gas asset management and twelve years as a reserve-base energy lender.
Prior to joining Carl Marks,Mr. Hudson served as Manager of the Houston E&P/Midstream group and Senior Vice President of Energy Capital Markets for Amegy Bank, where he managed a team of eight professionals and oversaw a loan portfolio of $2.2 billion. Mr. Hudson has also previously managed oil & gas investments for several family offices through entities including JMI Energy Inc., Entre Energy Partners, CMR Energy, Llewellin Operating Company, Llewellin Investment Company, and Red Arrow Energy. During this period, he was involved in raising $170MM in investment capital, the deployment of $190MM in direct oil and gas investments, and the harvesting of $489MM in invested assets. Mr. Hudson spent 10 years with Torch Energy Advisors, where he served as Vice President- Special Projects and president of several Torch subsidiaries, including Torch Capital Corporation, Torch Royalty Corporation and Sunset Services.
Mr. Hudson earned a BS from Stanford University (Earth Sciences) and an MBA from the University of Texas. He is a member of the Independent Producers Association of America, Houston Producers Forum, Houston Energy Finance Group, and Commercial Finance. Mr. Hudson is a FINRA Registered Representative.
